The Pillars of Home
Thoughtfully engineered spaces designed to nurture legacy and foster deep connections across generations.
Share: Moments & Memories
Every candid snapshot, milestone video, and voice memo — gathered in one warm, private feed. Your inner circle gets instant access with just a shared family password. No accounts, no friction, no strangers.
- Inner circle access — one shared password, zero sign-ups
- Admins post, the inner circle looks — journals, the Vault and recipes stay with the admins
- Daily Moments — story circles for quick everyday snapshots
- A smart timeline sorts memories by season and "on this day"

Preserve: The Vault
Seal letters, voice notes, photos and videos into a time capsule. It stays closed until the day you pick — an 18th birthday, a graduation, a wedding you might not attend — and everything in it is encrypted with AES-256 in your browser before it's uploaded.
- AES-256, encrypted on your device before upload
- Opens on a date you choose, at a life milestone, or — as a legacy — a year after you last checked in
- Addressed to one of your children or to the whole family

Write: Letters & Journals
Write letters to your children that they'll read when they're grown — the small joys, the big milestones, a voice note in your own words. Each child's journal also holds the sky of their birth: the stars, planets and moon above their birthplace at the moment they were born, as a poster to print.

Evolve: Recipe Tree
Recipes aren't static. Watch how Grandma's pasta evolved through three generations, with notes, variations, and photo logs of every holiday meal.

Look back: Best of the Month
On the 1st, last month comes back as a story in the moments row: its photos in motion, albums as animated collages, its clips, and awards like place of the month and busiest day — set to music. Everyone in the family gets a push that it's there.
- Put together from what your family wrote — featured memories, places, days
- No photo is analysed, anywhere
- Encrypted like everything else; the music is made on your device

Create: Digital Scrapbook
Turn your family memories into handcrafted digital pages. Drag and drop polaroid photos, playful stickers, and personal notes onto a freeform canvas — then export your finished book as a PDF or order it as a printed book.
- Drag-and-drop canvas with photos, stickers & text
- Polaroid-style photo frames with rotation & resize
- Export finished scrapbooks to PDF
- Order a printed book through Peecho — the one file we don't encrypt, and we tell you first
Relive: Highlight Videos
Turn a pile of photos into a short film. Kaydo suggests ready-made reels from what your family already posted — "Our summers", or the year that just ended — or you pick every shot yourself. Add a title card, set the pace, then share it to the feed or download the video.
- Ready-made ideas built from your own photos — a season, a year, the last few weeks
- Title card, shot order and timing all under your control
- Four colour moods, in story, portrait or square format
- Share to the family feed or download the finished video

Arrange: Collages
Fourteen hand-built layouts — polaroid pairs, film strips, full-bleed heroes — waiting for your pictures. Drop photos into the slots, zoom and reposition each one, then set the frame colour, thickness and corners until it looks like yours.
- 14 layouts, from a single hero shot to a six-photo grid
- Zoom, move, swap or flip any photo inside its slot
- Frame colour, thickness, corners and background are yours to set
- Download as an image or post it straight to the feed

Just the two of you: Our Year
A recurring ritual for the two people who carry this family. You look back together on a stretch of time you choose, compare your memories and keep what matters as a chapter — on your day, at your own pace.
- You both answer the same five questions independently — visible only once both of you are done
- A couple's quiz whose questions you rewrite for every chapter — no points, no winner
- A letter to your future selves, sealed until the day you pick
- Four keepsakes per chapter: one picture, one song, one sentence, one moment
Assumes no marriage, no children and no twelve-month cycle. Visible to the two of you only — no other account in the family has access.

Own: Your Data, Your Way
Your memories belong to you — forever. Download a full archive of every photo, video, and journal entry at any time. No lock-in, no bureaucracy, no questions asked.
- Full ZIP export of all photos & videos
- Memories and journal entries as structured data
- One-click download — no questions asked
Open Source
Kaydo is built in the open. Audit the code, contribute features, or self-host for your family. No black boxes — except the ones you create.
Works like an app
Two zones, one home
Everyday sharing should be effortless. Your most precious things deserve more. Kaydo separates the two — by design.
The Family Feed
Photos, videos and voice memos for your inner circle. One shared family password gets grandparents in without creating an account — convenient on purpose.
- One shared password for the inner circle
- No accounts or app installs for viewers
- Family admins decide what gets shared
- Invite co-admins with a secure link
- Your own front door — design the login page of your family's address
- Encrypted on your device too — convenience without the trade-off
Vault & Letters
Vault capsules, your children's journals and letters are encrypted with AES-256 in your browser before they're uploaded, and only the family's admins can open them. What reaches our servers is ciphertext.
- AES-256-GCM, encrypted on your device
- Readable by the family's admins only — viewers see the feed
- Full export any time — it stays yours
Your data is a precious legacy, not a training set.
No AI Training
We strictly prohibit the use of your private photos or text for LLM or AI generative model training. Ever.
Encrypted on Your Device
Your photos, videos, letters and Vault originals are encrypted with AES-256 in your browser before they're uploaded — our servers store ciphertext, not your pictures.
Ad-Free Forever
We are funded by families, for families. We will never sell your attention to advertisers.
Frequently asked questions
Why not just use a WhatsApp group?
Keep it — for talking. In a chat, photos get buried between messages; in Kaydo they stay where you can find them: in a feed and a timeline by season and "on this day", with the stories behind them. And next to them there is room for what a family keeps besides photos: letters and journals for your children, time capsules, recipes and scrapbooks.
Do grandparents need an account?
No. Your inner circle enters with one shared family password and views the family feed right in the browser — no account, no app install.
How is Kaydo different from a shared Google Photos or iCloud album?
A shared album collects photos and videos. Kaydo is a home for all of a family's memories: photos, videos and voice memos with the stories behind them, and next to them letters and journals for your children, time capsules that open on a birthday or a wedding, the family's recipes with all their versions, and scrapbooks you can have printed — at your family's own address.
How is Kaydo different from FamilyAlbum?
FamilyAlbum is made for sharing photos and videos of your children with your family. Kaydo does that too, and around the photos it has room for more: letters and journals for your children, time capsules that open on a birthday or a wedding, the family's recipes with all their versions, and a recurring look back for the two of you. Kaydo is also open source: anyone can read its code, and you can run it for your family yourself.
What does Kaydo cost?
Kaydo is free. No credit card required. Only a printed book costs money, and you pay the print shop, Peecho, directly.
Are my photos encrypted?
Yes. Photos, videos, letters and Vault capsules are encrypted with AES-256 in your browser before they're uploaded — our servers store ciphertext. The one exception is a book you order printed: a print shop can only print what it can read, so Kaydo tells you before it makes the print file, keeps it to your family's admins and deletes it after 30 days.
Is Kaydo a social network like Facebook?
No. There are no public profiles, no followers and nothing to discover beyond your own family. Each family has its own space at its own address, and only the people you let in see its memories.
Can I take my data with me?
Any time. Download a full archive of every photo, video and journal entry as plain, readable files — no lock-in.
Can I host Kaydo myself?
Yes. Kaydo is 100% open source under the MIT license — fork it on GitHub and run it for your own family.
